What is CSR Registration– CSR Registration is the registration where every NGO is required to be register under CSR Act in Ministry of corporate affairs by filing form CSR-1.
What is CSR (Corporate social responsibility act)- Corporate social responsibility is mandatory compliance by every company where
Companies have net worth of Rs.500 crore or more.
Turnover of Rs.1000 crores or more
Net Profit of Rs.5 cores or more.
Companies having above criteria is mandatory to spend 2% of their average annual profit made during immediately preceding years on CSR funds for undertaking CSR projects in India.
Benefits of NGO for getting CSR Registration- Every NGO Which are registered under company act by filing form CSR-1, would be entitled to get CSR Funds by companies having criteria above. Hence, an NGO shall not be entitled to receive CSR funds from a company unless they are registered under CSR by filing form CSR 1. It is mandatory for these NGO/companies / organizations to file e-Form CSR 1 with the Registrar of the Companies to register themselves with the Central Government for doing any kind of CSR activity. It also means that the companies are not allowed to spend CSR funding through an unregistered NGO. It is also important to note that entities which are registered u/s 10(23(c) of the Income Tax Act are not eligible to file Form CSR-1.
Eligibility of NGO for Registration under CSR Act-
NGO must be registered under section-8 of companies act or registered under society registration act ,1860 or registered under Trust Act.
NGO Which has conducted 3 years of social activity.
NGO Must be registered under section 12A and 80G of Income tax act,1961.

Steps to file CSR Form
One needs to login to Ministry of corporate affaires website and download Form CSR1
Form CSR-1 will be available in PDF form which is editable
The Form CSR-1 shall be signed digitally by:
In case of Section 8 Company: any director who is qualified under provisions of Companies Act, 2013
In case of Registered Public Trust: any Trustee/ authorized person
In case of a Registered Society: President CEO/ Secretary
It shall also be ensured that the Form is digitally verified by qualified Chartered Accountant/ Company Secretary/ Cost Accountant who is in full time practice.
Once signed, upload the pdf form in mica portal.
Upon uploading the documents and successful submission, SRN will be Generated. This SRN shall be used for the further any correspondence with MCA.
Once successful submission, a challan with the details of the fees almost nil paid by the applicant will be generated.
At last, a CSR Registration number will be generated automatically on the same day or may be till one week and an approval letter will be sent to the official mail of the company.
Contents of Form CSR-1
Form CSR-1 is a form in pdf format which is editable for registering entities to get CSR funding from the companies as defined under CSR Act and undertake CSR activities. following contents needs to be filled in Form CSR-1 are:
Nature of the entity.
CIN (corporate identification number) or registration number of the entity.
Date of Incorporation or registration, address and email ID of the entity.
PAN card of the entity.
Details information of directors, president, chairman , board of trustees, secretary, CEO or authorized representatives of the entity.
Director Identification Number(DIN) and DSC (Digital Signature Certificate) of the signing director.
